Mexican invents device to lower 60 percent of polluting emissions from motor vehicles

Mexican inventor Pedro Jimenez Castaneda has created a device capable of lowering 60 percent of polluting emissions from motor vehicles. He based his project on the chemical principle of electrolysis, allowing to purify gases emitted by combustion without impacting negatively on the vehicle’s performance or engine power.

“The device is installed right next to the motor and is interconnected to the air intake of the vehicle, near the injection system”, Castaneda said in an interview with the News Agency of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).

“When you start the vehicle, hydrogen enters the system because it is a light element that has 138 octane, allowing to remove contaminants,” said the inventor from Baja California.

The construction of the first prototype, called hydrogen generator, took just over two years and successfully passed the technical tests by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Baja California (SPA).

In the technical tests conducted by the state agency, under the parameters imposed by the Environmental Vehicle Verification Program it was found that the hydrogen generator decreases on average 60 percent of emissions of carbon monoxide (CO).

The device is also able to lower nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and hydrocarbons (HC) generated by motor vehicles.

“Because the prototype generates no oxidation in their cells, it ensures efficient reduction of tailpipe emission levels”, emphasized Castañeda Jimémez.

“The hydrogen generator will have an estimated price of $3,500 pesos ($205 USD), an amount somewhat lower when compared with the cost of repairing the engine of a vehicle that exceeds the maximum levels of pollutant emissions”, said the developer.

“The device requires no maintenance or adjustment, since all the car owner has to do is fill the generator’s tank with electrolyzed water to maintain the conductivity of the internal cells”.

“Customer’s satisfaction is guaranteed with a 15 day trial, and if no results, full refund is made” Castañeda added.

The equipment is patent pending before the Intellectual Property Institute (IMPI), with the following name: Hydrogen and oxygen generator through water without causing oxidation of the plates due to the production devoid of contaminants.

Jimenez Castaneda seeks investors and strategic alliances that could allow him to mass-produce the hydrogen generator resistant and high quality materials, but with the objective of maintaining a competitive price.

“We still need to develop business and marketing plans to position the product nationally, but the first steps are already taken,” he concluded.
