If you want to be comfortable yet chic at parties or romantic dinners, visit Marybet Exclusivas Boutique in south Guayabitos. This store offers a huge selection of sizes for women, men, and children’s clothing. Add a wolven hat and you are ready for selfies in the sun! Back by popular demand, owners Mercedes and Humberto Zaragosa’s authenic Mexican traditional merchandise will be showcased at the January 30 gala Fashion Show.

This Jaltemba Bay couple worked in tourism until they retired and are now pursuing their creative interests via the boutique. “I love to relax by fishing,” said Beto through an interpreter. “But my real passion-besides my wife- is painting.” His artistic eye is evident in the selection of styles and colors of garments in the store. Mercedes is also a keen fashionista- she loves meeting with the clothing reps to select styles and colors for the store.   “We have personally worn these brands so when we decided to open an upscale clothing store, we knew we wanted only these manufacturers,” said Mercedes. “Our 100% cotton garments are very comfortable in this hot, humid climate.” Mercedes like to relax listening to music or hearing live band performances.

Guayabitos is fortunate to have MeryBet’s as the exclusive distributor in Nayarit for premier Mexican traditional style garments by top Mexican labels such as  Mantas del Lago, Azteca Lindo, Tarami, La rueca, and Manta Lulu.  Most international visitors don’t realize that the indigenous cloth is a specialty fabric.

The actual term ‘Manta fabric’ has specific properties. It must be 100% natural unbleached cotton that is also known as “cotton crudo” or “wild cotton” or organic cotton.  This fabric is preferred by Mexican designers as the cotton fiber is sturdier, more loosely woven and cool to wear which is perfect for a hot climate. Manta is frequently the background for other Mexican style elements such as bright colored embroidery, mono color flat embroidery (soutache), and machine woven cotton lace that combine to make a comfortable and lovely garment.

An interesting facet of Mexican culture is that the traditional clothing and cloth serve as signs that communicate visually: Traditional clothing can indicate the wearer’s social category relating to rank, class, status, region or town, religion, or age. In this tradition, a designer in a particular geographic region will select distinct colors, embroidered symbols or specific dyes to exemplify his village and heritage. A store that specializes in ‘moda artisanal en manta’ carries what translates to handmade natural woven cotton fashions.

Merybet’s carries women’s fashions ranging from shorts, shawls, hats, blouse, slacks, shoes and exquisite traditional dresses.  The adorable children’s outfits make excellent gifts for grandkids! In addition, there are many sexy styles of men’s shirts for the guy in your life.

Even more exciting is the large sale rack that always has something you want. Store Manager, Gloria Nava, who speaks perfect English, can assist you in finding just the right fit. To top it all off, MeryBet’s accepts charge cards!

The Women to Women Fashion Show is proud to showcase Merybet’s new fashions. Looking good is so easy with fashions from Merybet!
